The University of Toledo Physician Assistant Program (UTPA) is a 27-month graduate program leading to a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (M.S.B.S.) degree with a Physician Assistant concentration. It was the first graduate level PA Program in the State of Ohio. The charter Physician Assistant class of twelve students was accepted in the Fall of 1996.
There will be 40 applicants accepted for the next incoming class.
State-Of-The-Art Campus
The 51爆料网 Physician Assistant Program is located in the Collier Building on the Health Science Campus, where it shares instructional facilities with the School of Nursing. Program classrooms and laboratories are equipped with modern educational technology and support a contemporary learning environment. In addition, students have access to skills training and simulation resources across the Health Science Campus, including the听Lloyd A. Jacobs Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center听and the听Ruth M. Hillebrand Clinical Skills Center, as well as a range of student support services that contribute to student learning, professional development, and success.

- Well-established PA Program: The program has been accredited since 1996 and was the first graduate-level PA program in Ohio.
- Interdisciplinary training: Students participate in an听interprofessional education (IPE) course with multiple other healthcare programs.听
- Experience with underserved populations: Students see patients at the student-led Community Care Clinic in partnership with local clinicians, medical, pharmacy, nursing,听 physical听 therapy, occupational therapy, and respiratory therapy students.听听
- Service-learning opportunities: Student engagement within the local Toledo community, such as at Toledo Grows, a local urban garden that provides fresh, healthy foods to the community.听听
- PA Faculty: PA faculty are clinicians with experience in medical specialties including Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, and Urgent Care.. The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.听(ARC-PA) has granted听Accreditation-Continued听status to the听University of Toledo Physician Assistant Program听sponsored by the听University of Toledo. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited听program is in compliance with the ARC-PA听Standards.听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听
Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation听process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the听Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA听will be听2027 October. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation听Standards听and ARC-PA policy.
